Sr Specialist, Accounting

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounting Senior Specialist will manage company’s internal controls documentation, provide accounting reports to the President and process general accounting operations of SPC -A by controlling and verifying financial transactions, cash management, payroll, and benefits administration.

The responsibilities include reconciling account balances, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures and payroll. This position is responsible for providing financial statements and reports to the President and parent company, as needed. This position must be able to develop strong partnerships with the parent company to assist in goal setting and problem solving. This role will need to foster relationships with Brokers, Customers and Vendors to ensure good business relationships.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for managing cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable activities.
  • Performs daily cash management activities including bank deposits.
  • Reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card accounts, inter-company office payables and receivables.
  • Prepares journal entries for payroll, accrued expenses and other categories to ensure that accounting activities and balances are accurate and reasonable.
  • Completes month-end closing activities and reports to the President and parent company.
  • Reconcile Sales and Service report with QuickBooks; report any discrepancies.
  • Review and verify vendor invoices, payment approval by authorized business managers, and payment requests for monthly check run, ACH, and wire payments for assigned business units.
  • Print checks, match invoices, obtain signature(s), mail checks and report list to Bank of America.
  • Prepare fund transfer requests i.e., ACH and Wire Transfers.
  • Files check copies, vendor invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Maintain vendor relationships.
  • Collection of customer accounts receivable balances.
  • Gather and review prospective customers’ credit applications and related documents to determine a credit limit.
  • Performs financial analysis, credit investigations on international /domestic customers
  • Audit employee expense reimbursement reports for payments in Quick Books.
  • Maintain business licenses, and leases.
  • Process semimonthly payroll through ADP, making sure 401K and FSA funds are properly processed.
  • Maintain employee files
  • Assist employees with benefit related inquiries regarding insurance, 401K, FSA, etc.
  • Monitor employee non workdays (vacation, sick, personal time)
  • Update company policies, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent degree and/or experience.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting experience with sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting concepts including balance sheet account analysis, internal controls, financial analytical skills.
  • Financial reporting experience required.
  • Advanced Excel skills required (lookups, pivot tables) and proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs such as Word, and Outlook.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Presentation skills and effective collaboration with executive-level management
  • Quick Books experience required.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $68,640 and $70,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
