Field Superintendent, Construction

POSITION SUMMARY:

The basic function of this position is to manage elevator and escalator new construction, and modernization projects to deliver a quality product in a timely manner and meet or exceed business plan gross profit objectives (original and midyear plans) at time of closing while meeting and satisfying customer expectations.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure Company quality standards are met in each installation. Monitor and control the projects assigned. Ensure that all projects achieve the targeted installation goals and meet customers’ expectations. Ensure all projects are executed on time according to customer contract terms and conditions.
  • Closely examine costs on each project. Scrutinize each completed project, identify the lessons learned or overlooked, then incorporate the new knowledge into day-to-day operations, and future projects.
  • Control the project schedule. Directly responsible for timely material orders to support installation. Be proactive and make certain that internal and external questions are answered quickly and clearly in order to keep the installation on schedule.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations. Handle all customer correspondence related to the assigned projects.
  • Maintain organized project documentation. Document and clearly correspond the company’s position to protect the company’s interests.
  • Review all projects’ performance weekly and flag any problems or potential problems upon discovery.
  • Knowledge and detailed review of contractual agreements of each project. Facilitate successful change order negotiation when appropriate.
  • Communicate with Contractors and Customer in a clear, accurate, and concise fashion across written and verbal formats.
  • Ensures strict adherence to OSHA requirements and safety program as detailed by the company Safety Officer.
  • Documents weekly safety audits and ensures daily safety meetings are being held and documented by each Mechanic on mobilized jobs.
  • Supervise construction activities for all field installation activities for elevators and escalators.
  • Supervise field staff (Union Employees) for all assigned installation projects. Provide manpower planning tools and manage HR including adding and reducing manpower as required.
  • Provide reports as directed to Branch Manager and SVP/GM to update field efficiency improvement progress and objectives.
  • Initiate, prepare and follow-up on trouble reports as outlined in the Trouble Reporting Process.
  • Maintain and enforce current IIPP and other relevant safety programs.
  • Scrutinize time tickets and ensure 100% accuracy of each entry by installation field staff.
  • Follow Purchase Order procedures to include timely submittal of packing lists and/or receipts.
  • Initiate, prepare and follow-up on trouble reports as outlined in the Trouble Reporting Process.
  • Make recommendations on updates to installation manual and guidelines as directed.
  • Offer recommendations to Field Quality & Assurance on modifications that would allow for improvement of installation efficiency and consistency
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree beneficial or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven successful track record of managing field installation activities, or equivalent experience in training and supporting installation activities.
  • Training in basic Microsoft Office skills to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $120,000 and $165,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
