Quality Control Technician (Testing)

Location: Maysville, KY

POSITION SUMMARY

Conduct daily testing (performance test, noise and vibration test, life test, pressure resistance test, salt spray test) and provide feedback to management about the daily line quality condition for assigned area.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compressor mass production sampling test evaluation work includes conducting performance and noise testing evaluations of compressor line production products in accordance with the test plans.
  • Compressor development test evaluation work includes conducting performance and noise testing evaluations of compressor development products in accordance with the test plans.
  • Compressor testing and investigation work includes conducting reproduction tests for defective products in compressor lines, unit lines, and the market.
  • Preparation and reporting of test reports include preparation and reporting of test evaluation reports for the aforementioned testing.
  • Respond to equipment malfunction, requesting maintenance for support as well as purchasing maintenance parts as needed.
  • Support updates of daily inspection methods and associated paperwork such as work instructions and check sheets to support quality control functions.
  • Read, understand and interpret assembly and part drawings along with purchasing specifications to ensure that all critical points of quality control are ensured by inspection methods with support of manager.
  • Support improvements to current line testing methods to inspect or test for control points as requested by Production and/or Engineering groups.
  • Attend training as required to enhance and maintain quality control knowledge (such as specific test equipment training, problem solving methods, audit methods, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Participate in audits with support of other quality control team members.
  • Accomplish responsibilities by fostering a team environment through facilitating teamwork, assisting in the training of others, cross-training, heightened constant communication, participating in problem identification, and resolution.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Quality Control Department by acting as a liaison between quality control personnel and other departments to gain information, resolve problems, and enhance relations.
  • Support 5S activities through general housekeeping of work area to ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of 1 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment working in quality control (specifically in HVAC, testing and evaluation, and equipment maintenance [electrical/control]), or equivalent, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of quality control, engineering, metrology, and production methods.
  • Verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and group presentation skills.
  • Computer literate, emphasizing experience with Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and documents.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours, with short notice.
  • Experience in brazing, preferred.
  • Familiar with air conditioning and refrigeration, preferred.
  • Knowledge of fluid engineering, thermodynamics, and statistics, preferred.
  • Prior experience with various evaluation technologies, preferred.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $21.93/hr and $30.15/hr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
