Program Mgr, Test Chambers

Location: Suwanee, GA

Note: This IS NOT a software test engineer position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing technical oversight and coordination of laboratory testing activities for commercial and residential HVAC systems. The role serves as a critical technical resource for product engineering teams and provides guidance, instruction, and leadership to test engineers and technicians. Key responsibilities include reviewing complex test plans, ensuring accurate test execution, and supporting the development of standardized testing procedures.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Test Request Validation
    1. Review incoming test requests for accuracy, completeness, and feasibility.
    2. Confirm all required test parameters, equipment needs, and expected outcomes are clearly defined.
  2. Stakeholder Communication
    1. Engage with test request originators to clarify ambiguities or gather missing information.
    2. Validate testing intent and expectations to minimize the risk of errors or misunderstandings.
  3. Scheduling and Prioritization
    1. Participate in test schedule meetings as the representative of the test engineering function.
    2. Provide input on test feasibility, identify potential conflicts, and communicate resource constraints.
  4. Test Setup Oversight
    1. Support engineers and technicians in configuring equipment and instrumentation in accordance with test requirements.
    2. Verify that setups align with engineering standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
  5. In-Test Monitoring
    1. Observe ongoing tests to ensure compliance with test plans, protocols, and key procedural steps.
    2. Provide an additional level of review to reduce the risk of oversight or misinterpretation of requirements.
  6. Procedure Development
    1. Assist in developing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for repeatable test setups and methodologies.
    2. Collaborate with engineering and technical staff to formalize best practices and ensure consistency across tests.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform occasional testing activities, including data collection, analysis, troubleshooting, and test result documentation.
  • Research and apply relevant industry standards for product testing.
  • Provide oversight and support for product safety certification testing.
  • Support third-party product testing related to research, benchmarking, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in annual offsite testing activities required for AHRI certification.
  • Mentor and train team members in all aspects of chamber testing.
  • Travel domestically up to 25% to support offsite testing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of AHRI 210/240 and AHRI 1230 test standards required.
  • Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and wiring schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical, electronic, and refrigerant-based systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain advanced technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency with specialized testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $85,600 and $117,700/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
