Building Services Manager

Location: Maysville, KY

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage the Buildings Services Department to support local conditions. Assist Plant Manager in planning long and short-term operational plans.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement of energy usage and waste reduction.
  • Lead the maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds.
  • Establish specifications and negotiate terms and costs with vendors for services or equipment.
  • Ensure continuous service from all applicable utilities. Coordinate the development and implementation of processes, policies and procedures for business continuity, emergency management, contingency planning and crisis management program elements.
  • Lead the resilience strategy and business continuity framework to reflect changes to the business operations.
  • Establish and monitor key risk indicators, as well as implement corrective action plans to mitigate risks by working with other departments.
  • Maintain reports on significant risks and recommendations and propose counter measures.
  • Create policies, procedures and control assessments in response to identified risks, such as risk register, business continuity plans, environmental, and building services matters.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Company’s internal control framework in addressing risks and accomplishing the Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide training and technical support to management and employees regarding risk management strategies and programs.
  • Negotiate, manage, and report on building leases.
  • Facilitate testing contingency and business resilience plans and leads activity to create countermeasure activity for improvement points.
  • Develop employees through coaching, counseling, training, and providing continuing education opportunities.
  • Manage staff results by communicating job expectations; and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the department and the Company by analyzing current processes, procedures, and systems and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, and through personal growth opportunities.
  • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
  • Lead inspection processes with outside inspectors (e.g., Fire, etc.).
  • Develop and manage department manpower, expense, and fixed asset budgets to support company goals and objectives.
  • Forecast labor requirements.
  • Maintain accepted standards of ethics, business and personal conduct, and adherence to organizational policies in job-related activities.
  • Accomplish responsibilities by fostering a team environment through facilitating teamwork, assisting in the training of others, heightened constant communication, participating in problem identification, and resolution.
  • Support 5S activities through general housekeeping of work area to ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent plus seven (7) – ten (10) years’ experience working with facilities management.
  • Five (5) years of supervisor and/or management experience.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, state and local regulations.
  • Computer literate emphasizing proficiency in the Microsoft office suite or similar software.
  • Strong verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and technical communications.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for training, conferences, meetings, etc., and work extended hours with short notice.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $111,200 and $139,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
