Assistant Buyer

Location: Cypress, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direct supervisionm this position will be responsible for purchasing materials, parts, components and software in America based on requests from MELCO and its affiliated companies. Export those products to outside countries (mostly to Japan). Provide various product and/or supplier information for MELCO and affiliates.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Request vendors to submit their quotation upon receipt of RFQ (Request for Quotation) from MELCO. Create MEUS quotation and provide it to the customers. Follow-up until the resulted Order Requests (O/R) are issued by the customers.
  • Under moderate supervision, performs pricing and minor negotiations when necessary before MELCO issues their O/R.
  • Generate MEUS PO and release it to the vendors upon receipt of MELCO (O/R).
  • Monitor vendor’s quality and ensure the deliverables are shipped by the required delivery date.
  • Classify any deliverables and/or technical data called out in MEUS PO in accordance with the procedure as in the MEUS Export Compliance Program (ECP) prior to the export.
  • For any deliverables and/or technical data, which requires proper export licenses for any export, under direct supervision prepare export license application to DOS or DOC in collaboration with Legal Dept and MEUS Export Control Administrator (ECA). This effort includes, but not limited to: collecting necessary information from the customers, and coordinating the application with Legal dept. and MEUS ECA after MEUS PO is issued to its vendors and prior to any export.
  • When on hand notice of deliverables and/or technical data shipped from vendors is received by the MEUS’s designated freight forwarder, work with the freight forwarder to prepare the shipment of the products to the delivery point outside of the US to the location designated by the customers. After all the export compliance requirements as specified in MEUS ECP are met, generate MEUS invoice, have it reviewed and approved, then send it to the freight forwarder, thereby providing the forwarder with the authorization to export the deliverables and/or technical data under MEUS’ power of attorney.
  • Negotiate with vendors together with MELCO in order to resolve warranty claims after delivery.
  • Conclude purchasing agreement (terms and conditions) with vendors in co-operation with MELCO and legal dept.
  • Survey and source new vendors and new products in the Americas and introduce them to MELCO.
  • Obtain annual procurement forecast from the assigned customers and create an annual sales budget twice a year (June and December) for the assigned products. Attain the projected annual sales figure committed in his/her annual plan.
  • Other assigned works.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned.

Education/Experience/Training:

  • 1-3 years data entry experience required.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Computer knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and Access.
  • Understand the business culture difference between Japan and USA.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $26.93/hr and $37.02/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
