Sr. Product Manager, HVAC - REQ # 1286

Location: Suwanee, GA

Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is looking for a Sr. Product Manager in Suwanee, GA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the end-to-end development, introduction, and lifecycle management of HVAC products and solutions. This leader formulates and executes product strategies based on market research and customer feedback from key stakeholders such as engineers, contractors, architects, building developers, and internal teams. The role is accountable for product positioning, market analysis, technical and application support, training development, and serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for heating/cooling in residential and commercial applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

Product Strategy & Positioning

  • Develop and implement product segment strategies for the HVAC market.

  • Conduct market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and trend analysis.

  • Define detailed product requirements and lead cross-functional teams through design, development, and launch.

  • Identify product gaps and propose enhancements based on customer and market insights.

  • Identify trade organizations and association alliance opportunities to establish and maintain a favorable image with channel members and the trade.

Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee new product introduction using established NPI processes.

  • Coordinate with global engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Manage product launch materials, sales and support training, and end-of-life planning.

  • Monitor and report on project timelines, resource allocation, and development milestones.

  • Analysis of sales forecasts based on historical data, market conditions, trend analysis and sales projections.

  • Analysis of market data and demand behavior to determine new product pricing strategies.

  • Develop product specifications by outlining product requirements, business case justification, product definition and revenue quantification.

  • Act as factory liaison for product specification, introduction and life cycle management activities.

  • Support testing and market compliance of product introductions.

Design & Application Support

  • Provide advanced design and application support, collaborating closely with internal Applications and Software Solution/Selections team.

  • Peer review designs and guide the technical direction of HVAC solutions.

  • Support internal teams to create and maintain technical documentation, including submittals, application notes, and white papers.

  • Work with internal, 3rd party and global teams to develop software tools and engineering collateral to support product implementation and sales.

Training & Enablement

  • Develop and deliver in-depth training programs and materials for engineers, sales teams, and external stakeholders.

  • Lead the creation of application-based training for diverse audiences in collaboration with internal teams.

Subject Matter Expertise & Leadership

  • Act as the SME for HVAC systems.

  • Mentor internal Application Engineering, Training and various support team, facilitating knowledge transfer and technical development.

  • Represent the company at industry meetings, training sessions, and with external partners.

  • Cooperate with the Marketing department for the creation of marketing & sales support materials, marketing promotions and campaigns, etc. that will facilitate the product launch, demand & lead generation processes.

Administrative functions associated with the position:

  • Manage project timelines and monitor resource allocation.

  • Responsible for alignment of internal/external resources to achieve product goals.

  • Tracking and reporting of all product development initiatives and results to company leadership on a regular basis.

  • Track, report, and document all product development activities for leadership review.

  • Develop and manage project budgets, specialist selection, and team training.

  • Support sales with technical insight and product presentations as needed.

  • May have future supervisory responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in mechanical HVAC, including system design and energy analysis.

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline (PE, LEED AP, or CEM preferred).

  • Expertise in hydronic/DHW distribution system design.

  • Proficient with CAD and BIM software.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and networking; strong analytical, communication, and training skills.

  • Successful product management leadership with cross-functional, hands-on approach.

  • Experience developing marketing and channel programs and supporting materials to generate sales leads while promoting the Company brand.

  • Experience in a multi distribution channel company.

  • Excels in working in and leading cross functional teams.

  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and team-oriented; able to handle travel demands per project needs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Team player demonstrating METUS core values including a desire to win together, deliver excellence, drive sustainability, focus on execution and learn continuously.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $128,000 and $176,000 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including target bonus plans and discretionary awards. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation per year, 56 hours of paid sick leave annually, and 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, depending on hire date. Employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid [parental/disability/emergency/etc.] leave, if eligible.
